Just got back from Guntersville this evening. 3 friends of mine and myself caught 725 Slab Crappie in 2 days, with the largest being 5 pounds, 19" long. Most of the fish were caught on drops in the main river channel in approximately 10 Ft of water. we were using 1/64 oz jig head/ Yellow and white. The key to catching the better Crappie was to use our small 5 H.P. Tiller motor to troll over the drop off around the apparent cover in this location. I was also fortunate enough tocatch a 17 pound Sturgeon in the upper river area of Guntersville. the water was very high and muddy when I caught the fish. He hit a small Road Runner 1/8 oz.. Hope trhis information helps out. Goin Back this weekend, it's a long drive from Ky to Guntersville but for as much meat as we brought home I know that there are plenty of fish in the lake , well at least for now!!.. Needing some info though, what is the limit in Alabama on Crappie?

buddy you are full of it. I have fished guntersville all of my life. i live on the tail water 5 minutes from morgans cove. I have never seen or caught or heard of a sturgeon comming out of the lake.or anybody catching 725 crappie in 2 days.or a 5lb crappie. i have seen some 4lb crappie. D.A. the limit is 30 a day. you need to stay in ky!!!

i live about 12 miles from guntersvile lake.have lived here for 8 years and didnot know there was sturgeon here.sorry to say this but i think you are full of it.

Hey Stu: you have got to be kidding. Nobody is catching fish and you are catching 5 pounders. I have never fished that lake as I live too far north (ILLINOIS) but would make a trip next year if what you say is true. Let me know the real scoop. Thanks Bob
