Well I finally went today and sunk 6-7 Christmas trees. Took along 3 cement blocks. I stopped on the way out of my neighborhood and grabbed 3-4 large chunckes of concrete where they had been doing construction, glad I did. One cement block was barely enough to sink one good tree!!!I was able to tie two trees to each large piece of cement and sink them pretty good. First time sinking trees and oh well you live and learn.I,m gonna try and sink some tops etc that are along the banks next time I go.Sank them in about 10-12 feet of water. They show up good on the depth-finder.Will let you know if they are holding fish next time I,m down there. Take care for now P.S. Read today that on Sept. 5th this year Tuscaloosa Waste water treatment plant had a pipe burst and they released 1,250,000 Gals. of raw waste into the river here on the Black Warrior.Funny that we didn,t hear about it then. They also said no test on the water in the river were taken, figure that!!Labor day weekend and alot of people in the water yet it wasent made public!!!Anyway thats another story, Take care, RICKY W.

I'm sure you know this already, but some concrete blocks weigh a good bit more than others. I know this from a few years back when we were building our house. I was able to order the lighter blocks which made handling them a lot easier. You might just check with a building supply and see what weights are available. I'm guessing you may have used the lighter ones since they would barely sink the trees. Good luck.

Yea, They were building new houses in our neighborhood and I grabbed a few that they had left and I guess they were the lighter ones.I,ll check with Lowe,s here in Tuscaloosa . I went out to the mall parking lot today and got a pickup load that people were dropping off to be recycled. I,m gonna sink them after the big SNOW! We,ll wait on that one.Anyway I may try and do it this weekend. I know its to soon but I,ll let you know if the spot where I dropped the first load is holding any fish.Should I drop this second load in the same spot or sink them at another spot? RICKY W.

I use cedar trees to about five to six in each hole then add about six cans cheap dog food with hole punched in cans and put them in an onion sack and sink it with blocks around trees.
