Just got back from sinking more trees and while at the dock loading up two crappie fishermen came in after being out all day. They said the crappie were not biting good at all. They had been using minnows. Its been about 3 weeks since I sank my last set of trees and today I ran over to the first spot and YES there were fish on the depth-finder right around the tress. I didn,t have time to fish it had to get home, but anyway just thougt I,d drop the forum a line.................Ricky W.

Your project seems to be progressing well. How many trees did you decide to drop in any one location? Did you ever check with Alabama Power to see how they do it? I thought about them recently after remembering seeing a segment on a TV program about them sinking trees. Perhaps it was TVA. It was some time ago.
We are doing well and hope you and your family are also.

Hey Dtcark, good to hear from you. Glad to hear your family and yourself are all ok.I basically sank between 7-8 trees in each hole. I,ve sank cedar and several others I,m not sure of just your average Christmas trees.First bunch are in about 10-12 feet of water, the second in about 10 ft. I wanted to sink them deeper but the slough I went up in was shallower than I anticipated and I was running late so I had to dump them. No biggie tho I plan on sinking about 2-3 more spots or holes before March. Feels strange to go to the water and not fish. My little boat is full with the trees and blocks, and at 14ft and the 25 johnson you don,t get anywhere to fast. But I think I,ll be happy this spring and summer. They look good on the depth finder! Its nice having a little crappie hole nobody knows about, yet, that is until they see you fishing it then come back when your not there. Oh well, but anyway you take care and write when you can.P.S have you started your boat lately? RICKY W.

You're right. Someone will probably find your spots sooner or later. But, maybe you can stay a step or two ahead and catch most of the fish before they do.
I haven't cranked my motor since around early October. I changed oil in the crankcase and foot, which was the first time, and haven't used it since. I only have about 10 hours or running time on the engine. I keep wanting to go out, but haven't lately. My wife and I do a lot of birding during the spring, fall and winter months. Noxubee Wildlife Refuge opens for fishing in March, and I'm sure I will start back then. Good luck.
