I've always used christmas trees as structure. Now I hear that burning the needles off helps. Has anyone heard this before? And what do you think is best?

yes burning the needles off of a christmas tree is good...after doing a little reading and noticing the difference myself..some needles put off a "gas" and that can keep the better crappie out of the brush..dont get me wrong u can catch fish in trees with needles still on but i have noticed the better fish will stay off the tree instead of down in it. at least that is our experience here on lake shelbyville in illinois
