Hello. I just registered on this message board. Wonderful site and great info!
However I dont see alot of discussion about crappie fishing during the hot summer months.
I have often fished by lantern in the summer, and know that they turn to much deeper water.
I am rather unfamiliar with the lakes around Alabama but will most likely be fishing the Tennessee river.
What would be some good tactics to catch even a few slab crappie?
So far, 1.5 inch tubes around bridge supports and deeper boat docks have produced some scattered, smaller crappie.
Thanks for any help,
Jesse

I fish in north alabama. mostly in the bcda lakes. Soo when it gets really hot you troll for crappie.there about 20ft or so. What part of the tenn. river do you fish.

Its kind of disappointing how few people take time to respond on these boards. I see some threads not ever answered and they've been here since a month ago.

Would there be a better spot on the site to post this question?
At any rate to the other poster, I have still been pulling a few from bridge supports and the deep boat docks, though the overall size has been small.

I've never fished at night from my boat. I moved to Birmingham 2 years ago and I'm still looking for a good fishing partner. I've gotten a few fishermen who say that they want to fish.

I fish the Coosa river a lot for crappie all year long. I also fish crappie tournaments all over the south. I have not fished the Tennessee River for crappie. If I could be of any help with info on the Coosa email me at rd8@alltel.net and I will try to help.

crappie fishing slower as more and more fish are continuing to move deeper. Bass fishing on Tennessee river picking up some early morning bite has been great, but put away those 3/4 oz spinnerbaits and deep diving cranks...1/4 oz rooster tail reigns supreme during these hot weather high pressure months!
