I've noticed a drastic decline in the amount of crappie being caught in First and Second Creek near Wheeler Dam. Have any of you had a lot of success there in recent years?

Might have something to do with the 10's of thousands of cormorants that feed there from Sept to Marrch/April. Many stay below the dam year round now. I've watched those pieces of crap come up with both bream and small bass while duck hunting. I do know the local smallmouth fisherman singlehandly blame the decline in bass fishing below the dam on the things. The Feds tried to issue a depredation order to thin them out some. Of course, the tree huggers took them to court over it.

Not to mention the amount of baitfish they devour. I read that each one consumes up to 2 pounds of fish a day. Multiply that by the # of them and you have removed a serious amount of fish/bait out of a lake in a single day.
